Wendy McVicker is Poet Laureate of Athens, Ohio and a long-time teaching artist, stirring up poetry in schools, libraries, arts centers, senior centers: wherever the door opens. Her work has appeared in numerous journals in print and online, including Pine Mountain Sand and Gravel, Still: the Journal, and Sheila-Na-Gig; in anthologies, including A Ritual to Read Together: Poems in Conversation with William Stafford; Women Speak; and, most recently, The Boom Project: Voices of a Generation; and in chapbooks the dancer’s notes and sliced dark (the latter in collaboration with John McVicker. She has collaborated with musicians, dancers, and visual artists, and sometimes performs with instrumentalist Emily Prince under the name another language altogether. Wendy lives in Athens with her husband and a Hemingway cat named Dora.
