The Orchard Street Press is pleased to announce the release of Twenty Small Worlds, an exceptional new collection of sonnets by Mark Louis Lehman of Cincinnati.

Noted American poet Annie Finch has written: "Rosetti expresses one of the most useful powers of the sonnet: the ability to keep a moment, to hold a feeling or experience and turn it around in the light of our awareness until many facets are evident. This multifaceted quality gives the sonnet a paradoxical feeling of freedom and expanse within confines.....It also helps explain the lasting appeal of the sonnet, the form that Rita Dove has called a 'little world." Mr. Lehman's poems here offer us twenty such 'expansive confines.'

The Orchard Street Press is pleased to announce the release of Joy in the Tomb of Hunting and Fishing by Craig McVay of Columbus, Ohio

Reviewers thoughts on Joy in the Tomb of Hunting and Fishing

“From the women of classical mythology to the ironic eyes of a prison teacher to the contemplative ruminations of farm families, McVay’s poems apply a magnifying glass to the losses—of family, culture, connection—that come with the passage of time…In a collection that gives equal tine to melancholy and acceptance, McVay’s matter-of-fact tone suggests that, no matter what, we must carry on.

We were heartened by the amazing response we received, with submissions coming in from all across America. From the hundreds of poems sent in, we selected forty-two pieces for recognition: three for cash awards (including this year’s winner of the Malovrh-Fenlon Poetry Prize), seven other Finalists, twelve Semi-Finalists, and twenty Honorable Mentions.

The Orchard Street Press is pleased to announce the release of In The Diamond Light of an Always Morning an exciting new chapbook by Larsen Bowker of Blacksburg, Virginia

Thoughts about The Diamond Light of an Always Morning:

"Larsen Bowker's poems are stark, vivid, tough, gentle, stricken, joyful—all of that, sometimes in the same poem. He has forged a clear, credible voice out of a lifetime of varied and sometimes difficult experience, and I for one am grateful for it."

Midnight Exhibition at the Wheatgrass Saloon

Elizabeth Chapman of Palo Alto, California

A remarkable collection of poems that engage the reader in the mind and in the heart and, ultimately, in the soul.
"Elizabeth Chapman's most recent collection is a love story between two accomplished artists, one a poet and the other a painter... in this volume we hear the voice of someone who has known suffering, has felt deeply, and has a keen appetite for life."
